Things I Use To Alleviate Acid Reflux From GERD

Today I wanted to share some of the foods I eat and things I use just about daily to keep my gut healthy and heartburn at bay. I suffer from Acid Reflux Disease or GERD and I have ever since I had my kids (14 years). I look for natural ways to find relief and I only take meds when it get unbearable. These are some of the foods and drinks that have really helped.

Foods I Consume To Keep My Gut Healthy

SAUERKRAUT.

Sauerkraut is fermented and filled with great healthy probiotics. As soon as I start feeling any heartburn or indigestion I reach for a tablespoon of sauerkraut. I almost immediately feel relief. I also like to take a spoonful before bed this helps with digestion overnight as well. This Wildbrine one is my favorite it tastes just like chopped up dill pickles.

GINGER TEA.

I love ginger and I love how soothing ginger is to the stomach. When I first started using ginger I though it would make my acid reflux problems worse because it is a little spicy, but that's not the case at all. I find is relaxes my stomach and helps minimize the feeling of acid reflux.

GINGER CANDY OR FRESH GINGER.

In addition to having ginger tea I like to chew on ginger candy or fresh ginger.  I find these to have the same soothing effects as ginger tea. You could ever drop a few pieces in warm water and make your own "ginger tea".

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.

Another thing that you might think would would make heartburn worse is apple cider vinegar. However this miracle drink actually helps to aid in breaking down food when you drink it with a meal and it also help balance the PH levels in your gut.

I usually take a tablespoon in 8oz of water right after I eat or during a meal. I have found it to be a little too harsh on an empty stomach. When purchasing ACV be sure to get the organic kind with the "mother" in it, that is the cloudy stuff you see floating around.

BONE BROTH.

If I am ever having a heartburn flareup and I don't want to eat anything to make it worse, I will sip on some bone broth. Bone broth is packed with vitamins and minerals that help heal the gut. I also find that it helps settle my stomach. It is also a great source of protein and collagen.

KOMBUCHA

I drink kombucha when I’m feeling irregular it really helps me with that.  Kombucha is rich in probiotics and “Consuming probiotics may improve overall gut health. Probiotic bacteria have been found to help treat diarrhea, and some research suggests they may help ease irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). - Medical New Today

PROBIOTICS AND DIGESTIVE ENZYMES.

These are not exactly a food but I find them essential for a healthy gut. The probiotics help increase the gut friendly bacteria that our guts need to be healthy and happy. The digestive enzymes help break down the food that we eat so it is better digested by our bodies.

I personally use the HUM nutrition brand of both of these and I feel like they work great. I also add a superfood powder to my smoothies that contain probiotics and enzymes. I can tell a difference in my stomach as far as being flatter and I also have better digestion over all when I take these. You can use my code F8881 at https://www.humnutrition.com/for $10 off.
