Resources That Help Me Read and Understand The Bible

The bible is a book filled with hope, truth and wonder. It holds God words, promises as well as His revelations.“The Bible is between 3,400 and 1,900 years old and has influenced many people and cultures all around the world. Even as it dates back to ancient history, the Bible’s message is completely true and applicable today.” - GotQuestions.org. But, with the fact that the bible is so old, the authors often speak in ways that are hard for us to understand in the modern day. This can make it harder to apply to our lives and make us feel as though the bible is not relevant to us.

Thankfully there are bible scholars and people whom life’s work is to make the bible understandable and accessible to everyone, everywhere. Today I wanted to share some of the resources that I use to help me read and understand the bible. I have been a Christian for a long time but I still have so much to learn and read in the bible. These resources have made reading the bible more enjoyable because I feel like I can understand and I can relate to the characters in the bible. As mentioned earlier contrary to popular belief, the bible is relevant and applicable to life today.

The Bible App (Bible.com)

With the bible app, you can basically carry the full bible in several versions around in your pocket. You can switch between different versions of the bible at anytime to help you get a better understanding of what each writer is saying. Not only does this app allow you to read the bible anytime and anywhere, it also has a ton of devotionals and bible study plans to help you dig deeper into the word.

The plans on this app can range anywhere from a day to a year. You can study just about anything you want from healthy living to addiction. It literally has it all. The app also allows you to connect with friends and family and create images to share based on the scriptures you’ve read. I highly recommend everyone to download this app today.

She Reads Truth Bible and App.

She Reads Truth it is a great study bible that comes with a great community.  The bible they created is a great addition to their website and app. The app is free if you don't want to purchase the bible, and you can read it right on your phone through their app. But sometimes there is nothing like reading from a bible you can hold.

More about She Reads Truth:

“she reads truth started as a small group of strangers on the internet who wanted to be more intentional about reading god’s word. what began as a casual conversation is now an entire community of women all over the world in pursuit of Jesus.

god’s word is a gift, and reading it is a privilege. she reads truth cheers on ministries whose mission is to reach the unreached with their very first bibles. our mission is to invite the already-reached to reach for their bibles—every day.

it is our joy to open the living and active word of god with you daily, to find the gospel of jesus christ on every page.” — She Reads Truth

The Bible Project and Read Scripture

I have learned so much about the bible and the different stories it holds with Read Scripture and The Bible Project. Check out these video about how Read Scripture and The Bible Project got started and how they are changing the way people read the bible and scriptures. These explain them better than I can in a paragraph.

All of these resources have been crucial in helping me understand the bible and deepen my relationship with Christ. I hope you find them helpful as well. If you have avoiding reading the bible because you don’t understand it, these will help you out. Can you add any helpful resources to this list?
