How To Start Living a Healthier Lifestyle
Most people will admit that they would like to be a little or a lot healthier. Health is important and it can affect your quality of life in a good way or a bad way. With so much information about health out there, it can be hard to know where to even start.
Today I want to share some simple ways that you can start getting healthier right now. Making subtle changes to what you are doing now can make a great impact on your health in a good way.
START MOVING MORE.
The average American sits or are sedentary for about 12 hours a day (juststand.org). This can have a negative impact on our health. From personal experience the more sedentary I am, the more sedentary I become. Sitting around makes you feel tired and lethargic.
Try incorporating some exercise into your daily routine. If you can fit it in when you first wake up, even better. You will begin to feel more energized and look forward to your workouts. Even a 30 minute walk each day can help you get healthier. If you really can't fit in a workout, just stand and move around more through out the day. Even a little movement adds up and is better than sitting.
HYDRATE YOUR BODY.
Up to 60% of the human adult body is water. According to H.H. Mitchell, Journal of Biological Chemistry 158, the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%. (usgs.gov).
If we are not drinking water, how can we expect out bodies to function properly and to feel good? Drinking water should be the first thing we do when waking up and the last thing we do before bed. Proper hydration will make you feel good, makes you think better and may even help you lose some weight if that is your goal.

EAT LESS SUGAR.
Oh sugar, how we love you, how we crave you, how we loathe you all at the same time. Look, I love sugar as much as the next person, but as I get older I am starting to see and feel the bad affects of it. When I eat too much sugar I get headaches, stomach aches, bad skin and gain weight, quickly!
Today, an average American consumes about 22 teaspoons of sugar per day, which amounts to 77 pounds of sugar per year (Mercola.com). Our bodies just weren't made to process that much sugar. Too much sugar can increase your risk of diseases including type 2 diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. These are all diseases that really have a negative affect your quality of life.

Try replacing processed white sugar with fruit and natural sugars until you can get that sweet tooth under control. Even though these contain sugar, they also contain fiber to slow down the processing of the sugar in your body. They also contain other vitamin and minerals unlike candy, cakes and cookies.
COOK AT HOME MORE.
My final tip for today will take a little effort and planning but will be worth it. Cook at home more. When you cook at home instead of eating out, you know exactly what you are putting into your body. I know that we are all busy and by the time we get home the last thing we want to do it cook, I feel ya, I'm there!
However! I know that the sacrifice will be worth it since I know I am fueling my body and my family with good wholesome food Make a commitment to cook at home at least 4-5 times a week. And if you can afford it, choose fresh, organic ingredients. Doing this simple thing will help improve the health of you and your family.
